What psychoeducational tests do you offer?
- Cognitive – Wechsler Scales (WISC-V and WAIS – IV). Additional cognitive tests available for children under age 5.
- Academic testing is conducted with the Woodcock-Johnson Tests of Achievement (WJ-IV), along with phonological processing and reading fluency measures.
- Social/Emotional tests are determined by the referral concern, but generally include the BASC-3 and BRIEF-2 for school-aged individuals.
How long does the process take?
- All testing is completed in a single day session. Results are available within one week; reports are available within 2 – 4 weeks.
- A virtual feedback session will be scheduled with parents to go over all results.
What ages do you work with?
- Testing is available for preschool through adulthood.
Do you offer testing for ADHD, autism, and dyslexia?
- Yes, testing is available for these conditions and other learning differences.
What is in the final report?
- The report will include all data including observations, test results, interviews, records review, diagnostic impressions, and recommendations for both the home and school settings. Most reports range from 20 – 30 pages in length, case-dependent.
Will I need to stay onsite while my child is tested?
- Yes, however, parents/caregivers may request and sign a release form to drop off their children for assessment, for children over the age of 12. It is often helpful for children to touch base with their parent during breaks from the test session, so we ask that parents are available either by phone or in person throughout the appointment.
What happens during the test?
- Before the first session, we will go over all forms to ensure informed consent.
- Following this, cognitive testing is administered, which includes games such as puzzles, answering verbal questions, and simple writing tasks, followed by achievement (academic) test such as writing sentences, performing math calculation, and reading silently and aloud for comprehension.
- Frequent breaks are taken, and we ask that you provide a snack and a sack lunch for each day of testing.
- Children are allowed to choose age-appropriate items from the “treasure box” during each session, to promote engagement.
What is required of parents/caregivers and teachers?
- Parents/caregivers will work through informed consent paperwork with Suzanne Delap, EdS, before assessment begins.
- One or both parents/caregivers will provide information regarding developmental and school history during the assessment session.
- Teachers are given paperwork to complete for the evaluation.
Are Saturday sessions available?
- Yes. Saturday appointments are a popular option, so please make sure to request well in advance.
During our initial phone consult, will you provide recommendations and referrals to outside therapists?
- Unfortunately, recommendations and/or referrals may only be made for evaluation clients, and these are not guarantees of service by outside resources. No diagnoses or referrals will be made without extensive evaluation within a client-provider contract.
